February 14, 2017 at 4:33 pm Leave a comment

The University of Luxembourg will host a series of workshops on current EU external relations issues, as part of the project “The European Union as Global International Actor and the Question of Competence.” Each workshop will be followed by a round table which brings together university professors and practitioners from the European institutions. The series will “focus on the interaction of the principle of conferral with the practice of EU external relations, as well as the interplay of conferred competences and other principles and objectives of EU law.”

March 31, 2017: Competence-related issues raised in the context of the conclusion of the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled.

May 19, 2017: Allocation of competences in the context of the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Singapore.

May 29, 2017: Legal basis, as well as fundamental rights questions raised in the context of the draft agreement between Canada and the European Union on the transfer and processing of Passenger Name Record data, and also in the context of the Common Foreign and Security Policy restrictive measures

Submit proposals by March 6, 2017 to eleftheria.neframi@uni.lu and mauro.gatti@uni.lu. Researchers can submit proposals for one, two, or all workshops.  Proposals should include a summary of the intended presentation or areas of interest (150-200 words) and a CV of the researcher (including a list of publications and contact details). The contributions to the seminars will be published, subject to acceptance of the final text, in a special issue of the journal European Papers (www.europeanpapers.eu).
